The FootMaster

Designed for non-weight bearing individuals and those unable to programme their exercises, an initial prototype of the FootMaster proved so successful while on trial at Birch Hall Care Home it has gone into production.

The Birch Hall Care Centre, Darwen Lancashire has been testing a trial model of the FootMaster. Because many of Birch Hall’s residents are too infirm to participate in active exercise, the care home was chosen to test the ‘FootMaster’. This unit too has proved a useful piece of rehabilitation equipment for many of the non-weight bearing residents as it gently rotates the ankle and foot.

"Of the residents who have used the FootMaster, those who suffer ankle odema and mobility problems have found it really helps in relieving fluid retention and stiffness in the joints that aren’t used in their daily lives”, said Linda McAllister of Birch Hall.

Birch Hall now runs weekly chair-based exercise classes using FootMaster. “We found that for those residents who are lacking in confidence or have memory problems the FootMaster activity can be easier to use as there are no issues of learning and remembering as the machine does the work for you,” added Linda.
